Last week’s PERFECT STORM showdown between the Colts and Patriots live up to it’s billing, with New England rallying late to pull out a 24-20 victory.  Interesting, the Pats never had the spread covered at anytime throughout the contest.

Looking inside the stats at last week’s college games there were a total of 15 teams that won ‘inside-out’ In The Stats (won the game but lost the yardage).  Those who one the game but lost by 100 or more yards are designated with an (*) asterisk. These ITS teams included: *Cincinnati, *Connecticut, Florida State, Georgia, Iowa, Iowa State, Michigan, *Middle Tennessee State, Mississippi, Navy, North Carolina, NC State, Oregon, Texas, and Virginia.

Navy remains the only team to have gained 200 or more rushing yards in every game to date.

No change from the PLAYBOOK MIDWEEK ALERT weekly stat rankings report, as the STAT KINGS (teams that have won every game in the stats this season) remain: BYU, Hawaii, Houston, LSU, Ohio State, Southern Cal, and West Virginia.

The STAT QUEENS (teams that have lost every game in the stats this season) include:  Florida International and Utah State.

On the NFL front, the only one STAT KING (teams that have won every game in the stats this season) remains, New England.

San Francisco remains the lone STAT QUEEN (teams that have lost every game in the stats this season) this year.

Interesting ITS NFL tidbits… last week marked the first time this season that every team who won the stats was also the SU victor in the game….
