LAST WEEK'S COLLEGE & NFL GAMES - INSIDE THE STATS...
It was, indeed, a LOST WEEKEND for ranked teams in the world of College Football last week as no less than EIGHT ranked teams were upset. The victims were: Clemson, Florida, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Rutgers, Texas and West Virginia.
From a stats-perspective there were a total 16 different teams pulled off ‘inside-out’ (won the game but lost the yardage) stat wins. Those teams included: Arkansas State, Army, California, Central Michigan, East Carolina, Fresno State, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas State, Michigan, Navy, Nebraska, Purdue, South Florida, Virginia Tech, and Wisconsin.
The following teams have gained 200 or more rushing yards in every game to date: Arkansas, Kansas, Kent State, Navy, and Southern Cal. The Razorbacks have rushed for more than 300 yards in all four games.
The following teams have allowed 200 or more rushing yards in every game to date: Marshall, Nevada, and NC State.
The following teams allowed less than 100 yards rushing in every game: Boston College, Florida, and LSU.
Syracuse remains the only team to have rushed for less than 100 yards in every game.
The STAT KINGS are Iowa, LSU and South Florida. All three teams have held every opponent to season-low yardage. (Arizona State, BYU, Kansas, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Pittsburgh and West Virginia have held all but one opponent to season low yards.
The STAT QUEENS (teams that have allowed season high yardage in at least half of their games) include: Central Michigan, Duke, Louisiana Tech, Minnesota, Nevada, North Texas, Rice, SMU, Tulsa, UAB and Washington State.
On the NFL front, The STAT KINGS are Dallas and New England, as both teams are 4-0 SU, ATS & ITS. The following teams have held half or more of their opponents to season low yards: Houston, Jacksonville, New England and Tennessee.
The STAT QUEEN is Buffalo, who is 0-4 ITS, having allowed season high yardage in EVERY GAME. In addition, the following teams have surrendered season high yards in at least half of their games: Carolina, Chicago, Cleveland (last three games), Detroit, Green Bay, NY Jets, St. Louis, San Diego and San Francisco.
My Late Football Phone Service scored with a 4-3 winning week, highlighted with our 5* College Game of the Month selection on Indiana over Iowa.
Have a great week...
