We're so tired of hearing about the strength of schedule and what a difficult time the NCAA Tournament Committee has in the selection process. I had a conversation with a member of the Cleveland State University Athletic Department last season when the Ohio State Buckeyes came to Cleveland to play my Vikings in non-conference action. I wondered why we would leave the outstanding venue of the Wolstein Center for Quicken Loans Arena, the home of the Cleveland Cavaliers. I was informed that the only way the Buckeyes would schedule the Vikings was if CSU made two visits to Columbus and the game in Cleveland was played on a neutral court. The same deal was struck with West Virginia and Kansas State although they didn't require neutral site games in Cleveland. This was the price of doing business in the the World of Big Time College Basketbaall. Ever notice how many home games the Duke Blue Devils seem to play every season ? It makes sense why so many Big Upsets occur in the NCAA Tournament because for the first time all season the playing grounds are really even most of the time, (Villanova a #3 seed gets a pair of home games in the first and second rounds --Please). Why did Alabama State & Morehead State , a pair of Confernce Champions, get tossed into a play in game in Dayton, Ohio when so called Bubble Teams like Minnesota, Wisconsin and Arizona get prime time consideration and start times. Money talks in the World of College Basketball and it always will no matter what the NCAA Tournament Committee says. I don't know what they are shoveling but I don't like the smell of it for sure.
